There being four elements of which the body is compacted, earth, air, fire, and water: P. τεσσάρων ὄντων γενῶν ἐξ ὧν συμπέπηγε τὸ σῶμα, γῆς, πυρὸς, ὕδατός τε καὶ ἀέρος (Plat., Tim. 81^E).
